Did you know that when a child enters foster care, they are given about 10 minutes to pack their belongings and often a black trash bag to move their items? On average, a foster child will move 7 times.
When they no longer have to travel by trash bag, the luggage they receive is often the wrong size, scribbled on, stained, outdated, or broken.
If a child has to be in foster care, we want to help them maintain an amount of dignity as they navigate a new (often temporary) normal. Trash bags are for garbage…not children.
